Motivational Monday: Live a Radical life

Image from ChalkPR

About a week ago, I attended a Radical Skincare event and was so inspired by the founders, their vision and story that I had to make it my motivational Monday post. (I apologise for the quality of the images, they were taken on my phone)

From the minute I received the invitation, I knew the event was going to be very different to any kind of beauty event I have ever been to.

It was described as a “Vision Board Event” hosted by sisters and founders of the brand Radical Skincare. Liz and Rachel Edlich are radical sisters on a mission who are deeply committed to more than skin-deep assistance. They wanted to share the knowledge they have received from their own business mentor Bob Proctor, and help us set life goals and create our own vision board for the life we would love.

Combat the shine: Fashion Fair Oil Control Powder

Ah the great British Weather! The last couple of weeks have been completely boiling in the UK, with temperatures reaching 30 degrees! Now whilst I absolutely love the warmth of the sun dancing across my skin, sadly my makeup does not! And I have been forced to bring out all the big guns for fear of my makeup (on days when I wear it) sliding off my face.

Enter in my current oil control hero in the form of Fashion Fair Oil Control Pressed Powder in Sugar – A bit of a mouthful, but all is forgiven due to its efficiency.

Described as

“A translucent silky, pressed setting powder that is oil – absorbent and eliminates shine”

I love the packaging; its design is sleek and discreet enough to happily touch up on the go, even on the tube!

I decided to try it out during one of the hottest weeks of the year so far and did the test using my normal moisturiser (not oil free) and minus a primer, just to see how it would perform.

The results? It really does what it says on the tin

It mattifies and controls my shine throughout the day without leaving me looking grey or like I’m applying for a role in a Marie Antoinette film.

The Review: Sisley Eau Tropicale Perfume

I love the smell of rain on a hot summers day or rather the smell before it rains and/or just afterwards. It’s a strong combination of both sweet and fresh and always makes me want to take in big, huge breathes

So when I read about Sisleys Eau Tropicale perfume that launched earlier this year, I was intrigued.

Described as

“A fragrance reminiscent of the intriguing, sultry and perfumed atmosphere that prevails after a tropical rainstorm.

A delightful escape to the heart of a far-flung, mysterious land filled with the song of colourful birds, delicious fruits and exotic flower accords.”

It has fast become my new signature summer scent.

The fragrance opens with exotic floral blends of hibiscus, passion flower and frangipani and spicy hints of ginger and bergamot. At its heart are tuberose, Turkish rose and violet. And the base notes include the sensual warm smell of cedar, patchouli and ambrette seed.

It’s quite a complex perfume to describe, the first notes that hit you are quite strong and peppery almost, I believe that is the Ginger and Bergamot and then it mellows into a warm, sweeter scent that seems to melt and wrap around your skin.

June Favourites

I can’t believe it’s already July! Where on earth did June go? A little late but these were my favourite products during the month of June

Paul & Joe Nail Polish 12 I have been trying to veer away from my usual corals and reds and Paul & Joe  nail varnish in number 12 is such a pretty shade of minty green/blue. It's a lovely summery shade and has been a great addition to my summer wardrobe. You can see a picture of me wearing it on my Instagram.  Available at Asos. Retails for £12.00

Organix Moroccan Argan Oil This serum has been a life saver for my hair extensions. It stops it getting frizzy, provides a beautiful shine and tames any random fly away strands. I love using it after I have just washed my hair, when it's in a semi wet state and just before blowdrying. It really helps to smooth the hair and give it that I just had my hair done at the salon look.  Available at Boots. Retails for £6.99

The Review: Argentum La Potion Infinie

I have a funny story to share with you. Well it wasn’t funny when it happened but I can laugh about it now.

I was contacted a little while ago to find out if I would like to try out a cream called Argentum La Potion Infinie. I had never heard of the brand before (It's called Argentum Apothecary) but after reading other reviews, their brand story and looking at their beautiful website, I was intrigued. On the day it arrived I happily bounced downstairs to sign for the parcel.

Now lets rewind for a minute... The day it arrived was a wet, windy and cold day in April (I know, I know, a little hard to imagine due to the barmy weather we are currently experiencing) but try and cast your mind back.

Anyway, when the doorbell rang, I bounced downstairs to sign for the parcel (the postman was being lazy and refusing to climb the stairs) only to get back up to the flat and find out that the latch I was so convinced I had flipped up wasn’t flipped up at all, and I was now well and truly locked out. At this point I would like you to remember that weather I referenced earlier and note that I was wearing a pair of jeans, flip-flops and a t-shirt! With no phone, keys, coat or money to speak of and Mr LPM wasn't going to be back home for a few hours.

Now you might be wondering why I’m sharing this story with you, well it was because at this point I set extremely high standards that the cream would need to meet to warrant the predicament I was in.

Fast forward just a short couple of weeks later and to answer the question, was it worth getting locked out for? It most definitely was.
