The Review: Argentum La Potion Infinie

I have a funny story to share with you. Well it wasn’t funny when it happened but I can laugh about it now.

I was contacted a little while ago to find out if I would like to try out a cream called Argentum La Potion Infinie. I had never heard of the brand before (It's called Argentum Apothecary) but after reading other reviews, their brand story and looking at their beautiful website, I was intrigued. On the day it arrived I happily bounced downstairs to sign for the parcel.

Now lets rewind for a minute... The day it arrived was a wet, windy and cold day in April (I know, I know, a little hard to imagine due to the barmy weather we are currently experiencing) but try and cast your mind back.

Anyway, when the doorbell rang, I bounced downstairs to sign for the parcel (the postman was being lazy and refusing to climb the stairs) only to get back up to the flat and find out that the latch I was so convinced I had flipped up wasn’t flipped up at all, and I was now well and truly locked out. At this point I would like you to remember that weather I referenced earlier and note that I was wearing a pair of jeans, flip-flops and a t-shirt! With no phone, keys, coat or money to speak of and Mr LPM wasn't going to be back home for a few hours.

Now you might be wondering why I’m sharing this story with you, well it was because at this point I set extremely high standards that the cream would need to meet to warrant the predicament I was in.

Fast forward just a short couple of weeks later and to answer the question, was it worth getting locked out for? It most definitely was.

I absolutely love this moisturiser and the wondrous things it has done to my skin. It's now a good three months on and nearly finished and I’m already turning into a complete scrooge and trying to hold onto it for as long as possible.

Here are the details

First of all, lets discuss the absolutely gorgeous packaging. Just by receiving it and opening it alone felt like a lovely gift. It comes in a luxurious black jar, which is ultraviolet to keep the cream fresh.

When you first receive it, each jar is packaged with it's own archetype card which is part of a story of 12 cards. I received The Explorer card which was revealed on their website to mean "a daring and adventurous soul that would capture the essence of Argentum with art and illustrations. His talent and flair urge him to discover ways of sharing his quest for authenticity, never losing site of his True North".

I just love the branding, the packaging and their story

It smells absolutely amazing, it has this warm scent that just envelops your skin and transforms your moisturising experience to one of complete indulgence. Yes it does sound like I’m about to burst into song, that’s how much I liked it.

The two key ingredients are Silver Hydrosol, which has powerful anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties, with the ability to fight free radicals and promote tissue regeneration, and DNA HP, which works to promote and increase skin hydration by carrying 10,000 times its weight in water.

It is meant to be used both morning and night and can even be applied under the eyes and on your neck. It's key ingredients also mean that it can be used in place of a serum

The ingredients in La Potion Infinie:

“Colloidal Silver, Cetearyl Alcohol, Hydrogenated Vegetable Glycerides, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil, Glycerin, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii Butter, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Aqua, Cetearyl Glucoside, Caffeine, Sodium DNA, Sodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil, Xanthan Gum, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Parfum, Potassium Sorbate, Tocopherol, Sodium Benzoate, Citric Acid, Limonene, Linalool, Eugenol”

What I thought

In the 3 months of using the cream, I have had several compliments about the glow of my skin; my skin has felt soft, smooth and hydrated (and I usually suffer from dehydrated skin). I don't have any wrinkles so I can't really judge it for that, however when you apply the cream you do feel like it tightens around your skin, a little hard to explain but they do reference that on the packaging, which is part of it’s anti-aging effect.

In regards to blemishes, it didn't prevent me having any but I did notice that when I did, they seemed to heal a lot faster afterwards. I also noticed that my eye makeup stopped creasing under my eyes, which was a big plus. It is a premium product and the price reflects that. It retails for £147 for 70ml. Not cheap I know, but it did last a good 3 months and considering that it replaces all the other items you might be using, it’s definitely entering my little black book of beauty favourites.

You can find out more about La Potion Infinie and purchase the cream or a sample on their website Argentum Apothecary . It's also available on net-a-porter and cult beauty
