Review: Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat

Oh Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat, my new favourite lifesaver for my nails! You speed dry my nails within a couple of minutes and leave them glossy for the world to see, how I love thee…

I have actually had this topcoat for about a year and the first couple of times I used it, I hated it namely because (a) it absolutely stinks, I suggest you open a window wide to dissipate the fumes and (b) I found that within a couple of days the whole layer of polish on a few of my nails would come off in one sweep.

This usually happened whilst I was out and about (and as you can imagine was not a good look!!) which then resulted in pitying looks from girls with perfect nails and sadly I couldn’t even pretend it was the look I was going for! So I dumped it into my never to resurface again bag.

Anyhu fast forward to about 3 months ago, I was in a rush to go out and had inevitably left my nails till the last minute and needed them to dry pronto, so in my desperate state I thought why not try it again. I did and 4 days later realised my nails were still intact!

So I set about experimenting with a few other polishes and after a number of tries I realised they all stayed put. I finally tried the original polish I used it with and it happened again so I came to the conclusion that it just doesn’t like that polish (sadly that polish finished and was thrown out a while ago so I can’t remember what it’s called)

Other things to note that do affect me giving it a full 5 stars are:
  1. The smell – yes I’m mentioning that again. It really isn’t pleasant!
  2. You need to make sure you completely cover your whole nail including the tips, otherwise the polish seems to shrink backwards and crack
  3. When it gets close to the bottom of the bottle it becomes really gloopy and thick which makes it difficult to use
  4. When you use it with dark polishes, the brush seems to pick up some of the colour so you will notice your clear Seche Vite start to change colour (that’s why mine has a soft tinge of pink)

Aside from that, it dries my nails to a beautiful finish and extremely quickly. That for me outweighs the negatives because I’m not the most patient with my nails so a quick dry is a dream come true.

So Seche Vite I do love you and now I can wander around and give other girls with cracked nails the pitying look at your nails look… (cue eveeel laugh mwah hahaha) just kidding I love you really

P.s If any of you are wondering what nail polish I’m wearing in this image. It’s the Nails Inc Hampstead Heath that I waxed lyrical about in my November favourites  post here

Have any of you tried Seche Vite or any other fast drying topcoats or tools? Do share in the comments below; I would love to find out about some other ones to try.
